Charles H. Sawyer Papers, 1915-1990

Charles Henry Sawyer (1915- ) was a professor of anatomy at Duke University and at the UCLA School of Medicine (1951-85) where he served as chairman of the department (1955-63). His research interests included neuroendocrinology of reproduction, nervous control of pituitary secretion, the function, distribution, ontogenesis and properties of cholinesterases, and the effects of hormones on brain function. The collection contains manuscripts, worksheets, revisions, correspondence and photographs relating to Sawyer Reprints, biographical files, research notes and lectures, bibliographies and abstracts.
